(RNS) Muslims launch campaign to 'understand' Shariah

Against a backdrop of heartland fears that U.S. Muslims seek to impose Islamic law on American courts, a leading Muslim group will launch a campaign on Monday to dispel what it called misconceptions about Shariah.

The “Defending Religious Freedom: Understanding Shariah” campaign comes at a time when more than 20 states are considering or have passed laws forbidding judges from considering Shariah in their deliberations…

    Having read this post, I then went to a second website, orbis catholicus secundus, and found a very disturbing post showing a video of the desecration of the Benghazi Commonwealth War Cemetery to British and allied servicemen who fought in North African desert campaigns during World War II. This is the fear of Shariah Law. I pray that the moderates will have influence in the world of Islam.

    Sharia is fine limited to certain civil situations, much as the Bet Din administers Jewish law. BUT 1.) both parties must agree and 2.) the application of Sharia MUST function within existing US Constitutional law. Otherwise Sharia is pointless in an American setting. We already have our laws thank you.
